Welcome to SortWise technical support. Because the app works entirely offline and never collects your data, most issues can be solved directly on your device. Below you'll find common solutions, contact options, and guidance for backups, reminders, and more.
Export your data as a ZIP (iCloud/Google Drive/local). Restore anytime. No cloud sync β you control everything.
Learn more βCheck system notification permissions and timezone settings. Reminders are 100% local.
Troubleshoot βForgot your PIN? Since no data leaves the device, you may need to reinstall (data will be lost without backup). Always keep a backup!

Use the Backup & Restore feature. On your old device: Settings β Backup β Export as ZIP. Save the ZIP to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or transfer it manually. On the new device: install SortWise, go to Settings β Restore β choose the same ZIP file. All boxes, items, attributes, diaries, and reminders will be restored. No account needed.
Make sure:
1) System notifications are enabled for SortWise (iOS/Android settings).
2) The reminder is attached to a date attribute and set to either "once" or "repeating".
3) The device time and timezone are correct (SortWise uses local timezone).
4) Do Not Disturb / Focus modes are not blocking the app.
Reminders are scheduled locally using flutter_local_notifications. If you recently restored from a backup, re-save the item to reactivate the alarm.
No β SortWise is local-first and offline-only by design. We don't offer real-time sync to keep your data fully private and avoid subscription costs for basic storage. However, you can manually backup/restore using cloud drives (iCloud/Google Drive) whenever you want to move data. This gives you full control.
SortWise offers a free tier with core organizing features. Advanced custom attributes, unlimited reminders, diary attachments, and backup encryption may require a oneβtime purchase or subscription (via RevenueCat). All purchase receipts are handled by Apple; we do not see your credit card details. To restore purchases, tap "Restore Purchases" in Settings. For billing issues, contact Apple Support first or email us with your receipt.
Deleted items move to the Recycle Bin and are kept for 30 days before being permanently removed. You can also manually empty the recycle bin. The History Timeline records all create/update/delete actions, so you can review changes. These logs stay on your device indefinitely unless you clear app data.
Because SortWise never stores your PIN on external servers, there is no way to recover it remotely. You have two options:
- If you have a recent backup ZIP, uninstall and reinstall the app, then restore the backup (the PIN will be reset).
- Without backup, you must delete the app and lose all data (the local database will be removed).
We strongly recommend keeping regular backups to avoid data loss.
Try these steps:
1) Ensure SortWise has storage permission (read/write external storage on Android; Photos access on iOS).
2) Large images may take a moment; avoid 4K+ resolution files for better performance.
3) If the app crashes on a specific file, the file might be corrupted. Remove that attachment from the item/diary.
4) Reinstall the app (with a backup) if issues persist.

For developers: The app uses sqflite and provider for state management. All data is stored in sortwise.db inside the application documents directory. You can manually inspect the database for debugging purposes if you are familiar with SQLite.
We love hearing from users. If you'd like to suggest a new attribute type, view layout, or integration, please send us an email. While SortWise remains offline-only, we are open to improving export formats (CSV/PDF) and more backup options.
